Local networker acquires two competitor businesses in four months

Category: Networking Collaboration

ebn (Effective Business Network) member Matthew Baldock, of Charles David Casson, has revealed to ebn's Chelmsford, Baddow, and Sandon Groups that his company has added two businesses to its portfolio within the past four months.

The two deals have seen the family-run Chelmsford estate agency move to new offices in Duke Street, Chelmsford, and both additional businesses will be brought under the Charles David Casson brand.

Charles David Casson is owned and operated by brothers Matthew and Neil Baldock, who have been in the industry for a combined 25 years and also operate a consultancy to other agency firms.

They have recently launched a licensing model for self employed property consultants to operate within the brand, as well as adding block management, property maintenance and commercial property divisions to the business.

Matthew Baldock said: "We used ebn Chelmsford member Liam Hastings, of Hastings and Co, for the legal work and ebn Baddow member John Holliday, of Pocknells LLP, as our accountant. Both were invaluable in their advice, and it showed that networking isn't just about earning money but making professional contacts that one can call upon.

"We are absolutely delighted with both additions to our business. We have been speaking to the two businesses for some time with regards to how our clients would benefit from a merger. They have the same values that we hold, with customer service at the heart of everything we do. We are very much looking forward to bringing them into the CDC family and looking after their clients.

"With the impending tenant fee ban and increasing pressures on the industry, we see it as very beneficial for all parties involved to open conversations around acquisitions and mergers, and we would welcome conversations with other independent agents across Essex."

Managing Director of ebn, Glenys Chatterley, said: "Networking is about building relationships to help businesses grow and become stronger, and this includes celebrating successes with other local businesses.

"It's always nice to hear what positive outcomes our networking Groups can help to achieve, and we wish them continued success."
