Networker launches new look LinkedIn course.

Release Date: 26.06.17

Networker launches new look LinkedIn course.

Member of ebn (Effective Business Network) Lesley Morrissey, of Inside News in Chelmsford, has revamped her 'LinkedIn as a Lead Generator' video course, to help businesses get the most out of LinkedIn.

Lesley realised that few people use much of what they learn on workshops and webinars, and she has broken down LinkedIn into 15-minute video tutorials covering: how to optimise your profile; how to manage your relationships effectively; how to find the right connections for your business; how to track down journalists looking for good stories; and how to use the tools to attract potential clients.

The course features nine video tutorials, all with comprehensive notes, and each one has an assignment attached. The aim is to give participants a small amount of work to do that doesn't take long – and still get significant results.

Lesley said: "LinkedIn was purchased by Microsoft in December 2016 for $26.2 billion, and in February 2017 people logged in and discovered LinkedIn had had a facelift!

"Things looked different and functionality was different; people's comfort zones had been challenged. If you only use LinkedIn occasionally, you may not even have noticed, but regular users were 'outraged'!

"I wanted to make LinkedIn accessible to even sole proprietors, so I've kept the price down and my network members are already telling me that it's a bargain at £47!People get my email and phone contact information, too, and I'm always happy to answer questions."

The 'LinkedIn as a Lead Generator' programme can be seen on www.stepbystep-onlinemarketing.com.

ebn Managing Director Glenys Chatterley said: "ebn members not only build good contacts to help grow their businesses, but also get regular advice from experts to help them meet both their business and personal needs.

Networking member gives self defence advice

Category: Networking

Release Date: 16/01/2017

Members of ebn (effective business network) were given advice on staying safe while on the go by Richard Mitchener of Combat Academy Chelmsford.

Today's technology, being more mobile than ever before, gives us immediate access to our business while on the move. From a personal safety perspective, take a look at how many people walk along with their phones in their hands.

Richard said: "It's worth considering removing the incentive for a robbery/attack. Would you walk down the road with the cash value of your phone in your hand? Unlikely!

"If you need to text or email, stop, put your back against a wall, deal with the response, then securely replace your phone in a bag or pocket before continuing with whatever you were doing."

Richard added: "Most people have heard of the 'fight or flight' reaction in a confrontational situation. However, the brain will often 'freeze' in an attack and Combat Academy Chelmsford classes will help you develop a 'learned response' to avoid this."

ebn member Allison Lagdon, of All on Beauty, said: "Although self defence is something you hope you'll never need to use, knowing simple measures to help keep yourself safe is invaluable. It's not just about learning to fight; it's about awareness, too, and making sure that you don't put yourself in a vulnerable position."

Richard is a member of ebn Baddow Group, which meets every other Friday at Pontlands Park Hotel. More information on ebn Groups, including the Baddow Group, can be found at www.ebn.uk.com.

Chelmsford businesses dress up for Christmas

Category: Networking

Release Date: 12.12.2016

Members of the Chelmsford ebn (Effective Business Network) Group dressed up on Friday for their Christmas networking meeting - a tradition that has grown over the past few years.

The Chelmsford Group meets on alternate Fridays, at Pontlands Park Hotel, for the members to support and encourage each other, share business knowledge and help generate business for each other.

Chelmsford Group Director Robert Hutchinson said: "The Chelmsford ebn Group has grown beyond belief in 2016.

"The Group members' willingness to get involved in the local community, and not take themselves too seriously, is one of the reasons for the Chelmsford Group being so popular.

"I'd like to thank the members for all their support throughout 2016 and for putting up with my rotten jokes. I look forward to our ebn meeting every other Friday. Everyone has had a great commercial year and I know that ebn has helped support that success in some way."

Group member Dallas Willcox, of Simply Words Editing Services, said: "Friday's meeting was so memorable. It's not often that one can sit around a table with an elf, Batman and a 'chilled turkey' to discuss business!

"My thanks go to Robert, and ebn, for making networking so enjoyable."

ebn Managing Director Glenys Chatterley said: "ebn Groups meet over breakfast right across Essex, and in other counties, and it's a real pleasure to see each Group start its own traditions and members enjoying themselves.

"ebn Groups are about building strong relationships with other businesses and this is proof that this philosophy works."
