Local business networking group gets together to reduce plastic waste

Category: Networking Initiative

Release Date: 12.08.2019

Members of Brentwood ebn (Effective Business Network) were celebrating last week when one of the members told them some exciting news.

Ian West, of One Marketing Ltd, was inspired by another group member who was already reducing his own plastic waste. After discussions with other businesses, the idea was born to launch an initiative to find ways for small businesses to do their bit to reduce their plastic waste.

Ian said: "My company has been working to reduce its own plastic waste and I realised that some of my customers may also want to do the same. All the businesses I approached said that they were interested, and each made some small changes.

"One contributor suggested hanging a bag near the door with biodegradable bags inside, so that staff going out to shop would take a bag, rather than buy another - then replace the bag so that others could do the same."

Group Director for Brentwood ebn, Hayley Taylor, of Taylor Made Promotions Ltd, said: "Our members meet on alternate Thursdays at the George and Dragon in Mountnessing, and we were really interested in this initiative, with many having already signed up for more information.

"The whole Group enjoy celebrating each other's achievements, and we wish Ian continued success with this fantastic initiative."

Managing Director of ebn Glenys Chatterley said: "Networking is about building relationships to help businesses grow and become stronger, and this includes celebrating successes with other local businesses."
