Brentwood businesses have not only been boosting their own growth through networking, but have also raised cash for the charity SNAP in Essex.

During last week's ebn (effective business network) meeting at The George and Dragon in Brentwood, Robert Dennis, Fundraising Co-ordinator for the local charity SNAP, gave a presentation to show the Group how much they have helped the charity during its two-year membership.

SNAP - Special Needs And Parents - is an Essex charity that helps families with children and young people who have any special need or disability.

The presentation showcased not only the monetary value raised by the Group from personal fundraising, but the support received at SNAP's fundraising events. These included donations of auction and raffle prizes, and supplying equipment and beverages. The Group often join in at these events, attending curry nights, afternoon tea, and a Christmas jumper day for their last meeting of the year.

Robert Dennis said: "All money raised by ebn Brentwood helps us to continue to provide vital services, including a very busy helpline, a directory of contacts, parent courses and advice from our team of parent advisers. It will enable children and young people to come to the centre to enjoy play sessions, therapies and clubs, and to use our multi-sensory room and specialist IT suite.

"We are currently helping over 2,000 families and couldn't be here without the support from the local community.

"We are extremely delighted to be part of such an inspiring Group. From curry nights and Christmas jumper days, Brentwood ebn members have been extremely supportive of us and the work we do to help local families affected by disability. It

really does highlight the power of the network - not only for businesses, but for charities too. We couldn't be here without the support of the local community and we thank all of the members for being so supportive."

Managing Director of ebn Glenys Chatterley said: "ebn encourages each of our networking groups to support a local charity; the members represent businesses based in the local community, so they want to support that community.

"Brentwood ebn has done exceptionally well, by joining in and supporting their chosen charity's fundraising. I am sure that the members will continue supporting the charity every time they meet with fellow business representatives."
